Besides, with the recent news of Nintendo expanding their development teams, hiring up new people, and maintaining good partnership contracts with external development teams, I cannot wait to see their output of quality games increased. I pick up the occasional 3rd-party games as long as they are good, but as a gamer, I don't hesitate to pick up other platforms and get my good share of 3rd-party games. And let's be honest here, that's why I buy a Nintendo system for: to play Nintendo games first and foremost. But it won't be a big loss to me since Nintendo games are usually really good, well enough to cover up that loss. Their IPs have proven to be million-sellers and they constantly grow in popularity, which helps them sustain their brand in the long-term.Ĭould the 3rd-party support be better? Of course, I don't deny it. One thing people seem to underestimate about Nintendo is how powerful their brand actually is. They have proven many times in the past they can sustain their consoles by themselves, even with little 3rd-party support. So lets hope that, even though third parties are abandoning Nintendo left and right, Nintendo can pull through on their own. If Nintendo can honestly build their first and second party line up in a quick and orderly fashion, I'd be more willing to pick up their system, even without third party stuff, because the beauty of Nintendo's franchises is that they can stretch many genres when Nintendo puts their heads together. ![]() This will be a healthy relationship for sure. Next Level Games is reminding me of how things were done with Rare, while Nintendo owned a stake in the company they never owned the company wholly, and because of such, it allowed them a lot of freedom as a developer while still having Nintendo look over their projects.
